Meet MAD (Maya Ayanna Darasaw)
“Maya is the first person I thought of that could truly capture my daughter's first birthday. She captures the most beautiful yet natural moments. Her ability to fit into any environment and capture the things you would have never thought of is just spectacular.” -Jennifer Florez
It takes a keen eye, plus an inherent interpersonal connection, capable of earning this kind of high praise from clients. Yet, time and again MAD Works Photography produces vivid images and artfully captures your best moments, all while providing a positive customer service experience.
MAD Works Photography - (which stands for Maya Ayanna Darasaw), is a clever double-entendre that is reflective of her personality and her commitment to her work. She is incredibly driven and has mad passion for her craft. MAD Works is quickly becoming one of the most sought after photographers in the region, with a roster of celebrity clients including Raheem DeVaughn, Y’Anna Crawley (winner of BET’s Sunday’s Best), and Tabi Bonney. Her résumé includes features in The Afro-American and The Washington Post.
A genuine people person, she’s an extrovert who brings contagious energy to her projects. Weddings, fashion, family and children, music, and special events are all part of her repertoire. People, she says, are her favorite subjects. Maya takes pride in getting to know her clients and has a certain savvy to elicit reactions that help to tell the individual or event story within the pictures.
She’s been shooting professionally since 2006, yet she discovered the art of photography as a child. A graduate of Florida A&M University, she holds a degree in public relations and was a photojournalist for the respected college paper, The FAMUan.
